Situated on top of a hill in beautiful Muhoroni, Kenya is an all-girl’s boarding school where 80+ women and girls are devoted to their education and working on their future.
After a year of constructing their 8 stall barn and planting crops for their cattle. This all girl school was ready to meet their new cows!
Our model dairy at Jane Adeny Memorial School (JAMS) provides
- High quality nutrients to the 80+ students and staff who have limited access to protein in their diet.
- Female students with experience in agricultural entrepreneurship and leadership development.
- Hands-on training to handle and maintain a high-producing dairy enterprise.
- Additional income to award more scholarships through milk sales in their region, which has been classified as milk deficient.
Oversight is taken on by a local dairy expert who has Venture Dairy experts at hand when needed.
In July 2015 our venture|dairy team visited Kenya for two weeks, finding our project to be a total success. The all girl’s school, JAMS, received their first four cows late June and the model dairy construction is working very well.
Three days into our team’s visit, one of the school’s pregnant cows gave birth to a male calf. They named him Nicolas.
